Tilly watches the Old Crocks – London to Brighton veteran car run

Every first Sunday in November, hundreds of old cars and motorbikes drive 60 miles from Hyde Park in London down to Brighton on the south coast.

There are a lot of great places to stand and watch the ‘old crocks’ race by, Tilly is lucky that they pass right by her house. The London to Brighton route guide is on the official website, with estimated times to help you choose the best viewing place.

The first cars leave Hyde Park at around 7 o’clock in the morning. They are limited to an average of 20mph, so won’t arrive in Brighton until 10 o’clock at the earliest, although some cars can take a lot longer. Everyone who finishes before 4:30pm receives a medal.

As it’s November, the weather is a bit chilly, so a warm mug of hot chocolate is recommended.

The route may change every year, so make sure you visit the website for the most up-to-date map.
