Tilly visits the London Eye

Looming over the River Thames in London is a giant Ferris wheel that lets you see high above the buildings, giving you incredible views across the city. Tilly couldn’t wait to go.

The wheel stands at 135 metres tall and has a diameter of 120 metres. That’s the same as the length of a football pitch!

There are 32 egg-shaped passenger capsules around the circumference of the wheel, although they are numbered from 1 to 33, as number 13 is left out for being an unlucky number.

The wheel rotates at 26cm per second, or 0.6mph, slow enough that it doesn’t need to stop to allow passengers on or off. A full rotation takes about half an hour.

Watch Tilly’s video to see the spectacular views you could expect, and then go and visit yourself for the best experience.
